I don't know where you looked up the paint code that told you the car was a '90, but 87/WA 9536 Gunmetal is correct for both '89 & '90.

I frequent the camarosource.ca website for information, but like all resources, it is not perfect. There is some misinformation on that site like there is on this site and probably every other site out there.

I will give him credit though. He tried building that site with accurate info from the manufacturer and from those that know. Unfortunately, documentation from GM isn't always accurate either which gives you a poor starting off point.

87/WA 9536 is refered to as both Gunmetal or Medium Grey Metallic by GM, depending on what medium you look at. There is also a 87/9243 refered to with the same names, which is a lighter shade. One reason why you should always use the "WA" number when matching your paint rather than the name.

camarosource.ca has a lot of good info, though it uses the same RPO decoder info from this site, mistakes and all

Hello,

We don't use Thirdgen.org's RPO Decoder. I personally wrote the RPO Decoder as well as all the other Decoders (VIN Decoder, Engine Decoder, etc) on the site.

I have never seen a GM source for the Fbody to be Correct on all things.

I think all it means is that the name shown was the name used for the color in 1990. My car's color decodes as "Astral Silver", but in 1984 it was called "Silver Sand".
