Frame question

Somebody inisted to me that 4-cyl, 6-cyl, and 8-cyl Camaro's all have different fame thicknesses. I didn't agree on the thickness of the frame metal, but he kept on insisting. Is he right, or am I?

I think...

I'm not sure, however one would think they are all the same because why would GM have different frames for one car. It woldn't make sense from a business or practical point of view. just my opionion

You should not think so much, and by the way the 3rd Gen cars have no frames. They are UN-BODY construction.

The frame rail thickness is the same for 4, 6, and 8 cyl cars. It is very thin, but the same none the less. I had the misforture of cutting up two thirdgens. One was a 5.7L IROC and the other a 3.1 RS. Both had the same frame rails. Besides, there is only one GM part number for each rail on each side.

Don't forget, we are talking about General Motors here. They have been using the same steering column in ALL their cars since 1963! (practically). They practically invented the concept of using one part in 10 different applications. Why in the world would they make three different chassis' for one car? C'mon.
