what does the ORIGINAL ANTENNA look like?
i have a 1985 camaro berlinetta and it came with an aftermarket antenna as the old one broke off or somthing.
now my car has no rpo codes listed under the console or in the trunk lock box. so i dont know if it was a power antenna or not.
my car is going to get painted in a few weeks and i will be replacing the hood, front facia, and front fenders with rust and damage free parts that i collected from the junk yards. on the cars ive looked at they all have different looking antennas.
what is the correct one for my year and is there a way to tell if my car had the power antenna?
pics please
and how do i get my rpo codes?

RPOs will tell you if it was power or not, and the way to get those is take your VIN to a dealer and they can request the RPOs for you, then you can decode and find out what antenna you had.
All GM antenna's from the 80's look the same.

FYI, dealers (at least the ones that I've been to) can only grab RPOs based on VIN for 1990-and-newer vehicles. I found this out when I asked the local Pontiac dealer to run the VIN on my '89 Firebird that has a missing SPID sticker, and was told that their records "don't go back that far". Correct me if I'm wrong, though, because I'd like to have the RPOs for my Firebird.

You could check for the presence (or lack of) a relay and wiring for it underneath the passenger side dash. Unfortunately, I don't know what size and color of relay and wires; none of mine were equipped with that option.

Pull open the plastic wheel well liner and check for an electrical connection. Usually when something like that is replaced the wires are just disconnected and left in place.
