Where do I start?

Son and I are going to start on a restoration of a 84 Trans/Am. Where should we start? Rear end? interior? under hood? It all needs done and it all looks fun but wanting opinions from your pros if there is a place that is better to start at than another.

Thanks,

Bob

There's alot of ways to approach this...

Does it run & drive? Well enough to get around? Then do body & interior stuff first.

Is the motor blown up or otherwise useless? well I think you can guess what to do then.

Any model-year-specific parts that are missing or don't work, and trim parts like wheel center caps and stickers and such, it's a good idea to start looking for them now... the classifieds on this site, ebay, etc. .... and just start collecting what you know you're going to need. It can be mighty tough to make the world just cough up all that sort of thing for a 20-year-old car on demand. Better to lay in your supplies gradually and as they become available.

Decide what your goal for the car is: bone-stock-original, customized, hot-rodded, whatever it is; and do stuff consistent with that goal.
