GTA or not GTA

I need some help determining if the car I purchased is a Trans Am or a Trans Am GTA. I have photos and information listed on my site at www.78ta.com/89ta. If anyone can help me determine if this car is a GTA or just a highly optioned Trans Am. If you could contact me by email at hitman@78ta.com any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have the RPO code "Y84", then it is a GTA.

To me it would appear as a Trans AM and not a GTA due to a few factors, but there are more qualified people here.

By the way, might want to remove the . (dot) after 89ta to bring you to the valid directory.

I noticed you're asking about some other RPO codes on your web page. D67 looks like it really is DG7, if my eyes are okay, which does look like a valid RPO code.

It is my understanding that GTAs didn't get the vents in the fenders...add to that the lack of Y84 and I would have to say T/A.

A nice looking T/A though! love it!

In addition to the above, GTA's didn't have front fender "vents", the word "Pontiac" on the front headlight door should be gold, not chrome (mine is chrome because of a repair/replace with the wrong part) and the lack of GTA badges on the nose and sides. Also, I'm not sure if gold was the only color rims would come in on a GTA. I had a GTA years ago that had black rims like yours, but I didn't know back then people were counterfitting Trans Am's into GTA's. I think mine was real because it had badges and the digital dash, but I might have been snookered. It was over ten years ago so I can't remember.

The Y84 RPO is the 100% sure sign of a GTA, even if everything else has been stripped or replaced. I made sure my new GTA had this RPO.

It's still a great car.

So it's not a GTA, but it's still a 5.7TPI. Sweet! Looks like it's got just about every option that could be had, though. :hail:
