Preserving tires?

I've got a set of new Tires mounted on the wheels that have never been mounted on the car stored inside my house. What measures should I take to preserve them so they don't dry rot, etc..? Or will they last pretty long since they stay at a somewhat consistent temp (60-85 degrees)?

I would deflate them, that would release the pressures on them.

I will be doing that to my Formula this winter. jack it up, deflate tires. When Summer rolls around I will inflate, drop cars.

hmm never thought of that...so it'd be better to have them deflated? kind of makes sense until you go to air them up again and they have to stretch a bit again.

Keep in mind that with air in the tires there is a constand load on them. By releaving the load, in theory you should extend their life, since that is the shape the tire "preferrs" to be in. THe fine cracks that happen over time are the rubbers attemtp to go back to its natural shape.

On a side note, I have a 1967 Buick Riv, and I have not changed tires (BFG's Radial T/A) since 1990, thats 14 years!!! And I still take it to car shows... they are starting to show a little bit of cracks tho , but I cannot complain.

All my extra set of wheels I have with tires, I releave the load, it does seem to help.
