What 91/92 Firebird got this cluster???
What 91/92 Firebird got this cluster???
140mph speedo
8000 rpm tachometer
80psi oil pressure guage
I can't remember if my old Firehawk had this or not
Was this a 1LE thing or a 305/spd or what?
I ask because this is what I have now in my 92 GTA. I bought the cluster off of ebay but it's housing was for a pre-90 'bird (no airbag light) so I installed the guages into my housing. It says V6 on the back too. I'm thinking maybe a 89 TTA cluster with a standard V8 tach installed since I thought only V6's had the 80psi oil pressure guage.
Anyway, does anybody know is any 91 or 92 Firebirds got this cluster?

If you got the LB9 with the M5 & (I think the N10 Dual cats option) or the L98 you would get the 140 Speedo and the 8K tach, which was only availble on the Formula, Trans Am and the GTA.
I am not aware of the 80 Psi Oil pressure gage. All I know if is the 60 Psi.

No V6 (except the TTA) got the 140 Speedo. 86-87 all V6's would have gotten the 85 Mph speedo, and from 88-92 they got a 120 Mph speedo.
The only cars to get a 140 Mph speedo were the 350, and depending on the year some of the LB9 cars.

Chances are someone changed the speedo since they are all interchangable. Unplug one, and its controller board, plug in the new one, pretty easy really.
But here is a kicker... ALL V6's would get the 8K tach...

I think the red line was the same... The difference is the controller. I assume you know how a tach works, it takes a signal from the distributor, then it calculates it into RPM. A V6 Tach works on a V8 Car, but when you use a V6 tach on a V8 the RPMs read 1.333 times higher. Therefore on a V8 when your engine revs to 3000 RPM the tach would read 4000 RPM.
For pontiacs, the tachometer controllers were the same for a short period for both V6's and V8's. The difference was the faceplate to correct for the difference.
I belive it was in 1987 this changed, and they had 2 controllers, and 2 tachometer faceplates.
The V6, LG4 & LB9 w/A4 got the same controller
The LB9 w/M5 and the L98 cars got the same controller
The LG4 & LB9 w/A4 got the same Faceplate
The V6, LB9 w/M5, and L98's got the same faceplate (except the V6 faceplate had V6 Engine on the bottom, where the LB9 & L98 got V8 Engine on the bottom. The redline may have been different but I believe they were the same...
I posted the 2 different V8 tachs I have...
I hope that helped...
