Restored 89 RS -- whats the value?
I bought the 89 camaro RS just over 3 months ago. It is mechanically in excellent condition, everything works (power windows, ac, etc..), 118k original miles, and I bought new tires for it, and the car chirps the tires pretty hard if you mash the gas. Has a little valve seal smoke on cold startup.
I pulled the aftermarket leather interior out of my 00 camaro ss (cost me $1000 for aftermarket cross stitch black-leather, looks awesome) and put it in this car, and the car has an a touch screen panasonic cd player in it.
I started working on the body -- It had some rust on it and when I went to work on it I realized I was in over my head a bit so I ended up taking it to a guy locally that does bodywork and specializes in camaro restorations. We ended up replacing almost every single body panel on the damn car, front bumper and all supporting sections, both front fenders, some ground effects, right quarter panel, and every other part was off the car at one point to be sand blasted and dents pulled. The underside was completely done and rust removed. I will have over $3.5k into fixing this car up, and thats just to get it to a primered state.
Anyhow, I never intended for this to go this far cost wise, and I already have a ton of money dumped into my other camaro, including close to $10k for a built 393ci motor with stage 3 LS6 heads. I am seriously trying to figure out what an RS like this would be worth at this stage (before paint)-- I can also have it painted with the high grade dupont paint and high gloss clearcoat (red was original color), but I wondering if I should even continue. Id love to keep the car, but I think keeping my wife might be more important...
Insight appreciated...my wife is ready to f**king kill me at this stage.
more info: LO3, all options (inc power windows, locks), t-tops, 700r4, stock red rims (one part of the car that could still stand to be replaced in my opinion). Some pics of the car in process at www.erikz.org and if you go to the "project red" link, you can see car originally, page 2 shows the work in process as of about a month ago.

I think if I could get out of it at this stage and not take too much of a beating, I would jump on the opportunity.
