Calling all 15th Anniv TAs or acess to one

I am needing to find someone that has a 15th or acess to one that still has the original striping on it. If you can help please let me know or give me a number I am needing a measurement.

Through countless hours of frustration and money in the effort and need of perfection I am in process of making a complete kit of decals on the car. There is one measurement that I no longer have to make the bottom striping.

Thanks in advance

Silvio

I know this isn't going to help you any, but I saw one of the 84 Anniversery editions the other night. First one I've seen in probably 15 years. It was in the parking lot of a local elementary school. I almost stopped to look at it. They are really cool cars. I wish I could get a hold of one, but for now, I'm in search of an 85 L69 5 speed T/A.

This may be a dumb question, but why not just buy the kit ?

No thats not a dumb question. The 2 kits that you can buy Phonenix Graphics and also Stencils and Stripes are pretty good themselves. The stencil and stripes is more correct in all the lettering and the hood decal.........However when you get to the stripes that go around the bottom they are both completly wrong

With Phoenix you get a roll of stripes to go around the car. the stripes are just single stripes placed on the roll. When the stripes go around the wheel wells, tag and front they give you the same roll to use on that which is to big..

With Stencils and Stripes again the lettering is close to that of the original, but again the bottom striping is wrong. They have preformed kit for each bottom section.. it is off a little off as far as fitting and again uses indivual stripes.

The real stripes are printed on a white back ground, meaning the blue is screen printed on the white vinyl. The stripes are smaller going around things ( tag, wheel wells, front) then they are going around the bottom of the car. The Trans Am on the back is also part of the striping on the bottom. which neither kit offers they all send you an indivual "Trans Am" to apply on the back above the stripes. The hood decal is also screen printed on clear and the door lettering is also screen printed on white Those are correctly done with Stencils and Stripes, Phoenix uses just blue indivuals for the design

So that is the main reason. I know that it seems like a nothing deal but when you spend a lot of time and money on paint and such and then you place such a large decal kit on your car which is not correct it really takes away from it..

I have had 4 15ths which I have restored to some degree or another and those decals make all the difference in the world.

Don, its not a dumb question

FYI the PG kit is not completely accurate. It is not an exact reproduction, its close, but way off at the same time, lol.

W/o giving you a super long-winded explanation...

Kind of like how PG does some of their 2nd gen decals. They are very close, but some are not entirely accurate reproductions. (Wrong colors, thickness's, spacing, etc) Many people dont notice those sorts of things.

Thanks Dan,

I didnt want to get into a long post but thats it in a nut shell it sounds minor but if you see it in person then it stands out as much as putting red decals on it..

Dan by the way I have also got that air cleaner decal made so I will be sending you one or 2.. they look awsome.

Haven't been able to get to my car yet... Seems like such an easy task, just drive to my friend's house, but being on call 24/7 make an "easy task" sometimes imposible. I'll definately go there by this weekend and measure what I can. I'll post what I find out...

Hi there -

I have one with about 85% of its original paint. All of the decals on the car are original and were applied from the factory. I would be more than happy to take some detailed measurements. Let me know what you need!

Also, how much are you looking to get for the hood bird when you get the kit done? Mine is cracking and I would like to replace it.

Thanks!
Erik
