if you are referring to the rear hatch cover, then yes you can. you will have to drill the holes to mount it. also, you will have to get the rear hatch piece (not the glass part, but the metal part), as the mounting tabs are not in all of the cars. you could mod yours to make it work tho....

Wish I could find a late 80s bumper in a local junkyard, typically pricing them at $100, no matter what car, I need the reinforcement and metal mounts ahead of the headlights, which still work but are obstructed. I was a bit confused as you have a Bird, and that is a Bird...unless, in which case - never mind

About 7 years ago there was a junkyard in Anderson IN, and another in Spiceland IN (both owned by the same person), and they both must have had 50 3rd gens in each... most of which were well picked over, and nothing more than a shell... BUT I got several sweet items off of them... I got electric Mirrors, a perfect T-top center bar, - A perfect set of tailights, and lots more from them...

yards are fun to poke around, cause sometimes you will find something that you don't need, but can for see a use for. I picked up a GM t-top bag in perfect condition for $5 once, and a few map pockets for free.
I love the junk yards!
But, I agree! Too many third gens, as well as second gens being destroyed!
For a few years now, I have been copying the vins of all the birds, and putting them into a notebook for future reference (built dates, etc.)
One thing about the Los Angeles yards, they destroy them all pretty fast! Such a shame!
I just picked up some more interior parts, and a Formula hood (just what I need now, that's 14 spare hoods now! Ha!) just a few weeks ago while I was out there!
And ya! Alot of free parts too! They don't charge for paper work, so I get some owner's manuals from other cars, and sell them!
So, what good parts did you get??
George

I mentioned bone yard hopping in the MidWest section board. I can't find any decent 3rd gen parts I need. As mentioned above, usually stripped to the metal frame and chassis. Everything in poor shape. Seeing as the brown bird above appears to have a good front nose impact and mounts, let me know if you can get something like that for me in Minnesota! I need it this year [04/05 spring!]

Yeah, haven't found any decent yards around here either.. they either won't let you walk and look(You have to tell them exactly what year car you have and the exact part you need) or they don't have any Cambirds... if it weren't for Evilbay and Dennis.. I don't know what I would do!!
Still need a set of front fenders and taillights off an early 3rd gen T/A...

Well, when I am walking thru a yard, I often find I'm not sure what all I should grab, but often bulbs (dash ones for example) and the many fuses I pocket as I'm looking hehe
Cheap bastard as I am.
Another thing I did was grab some decent wiper blades left on a junker...it worked out great vs aftermarkets I've yet to be amazed by
I'm sure it's because I didn't pay a premium

I also love going to the junkyard and usually spend most of my free time traveling to a bunch of different yards in the area. The yards seem to rotate out the cars on a fairly regular basis so there are always new cars arriving and they usually always have a few f bodies.I have found so much good stuff and most places charge like next to nothing for it.Most recently I have picked up a few sets of 91-92 camaro gfx, overhead consoles with flashlights, nice shiny black camaro dashpads,a beautiful mint z28 leather steering wheel,145 speedo clusters and lots more stuff. The junkyards make restoring my 3 3rd gen camaros very easy and cheap!!!!

Not to sound stupid or anything, but some of the yeard workers are real morons. My wife was getting some little things (headlight actuator motor) from a local yard and the idiot told her that Camaro's would have what she was looking for. She was like, "No, I need to see a FIREBIRD. Third Gen Camaro's don't have pop-up lights."
Him: "Sure they do, my cousin has one with pop-up lights..."
Wife: "No, he must have a FIREBIRD, then. Show me a FIREBIRD and I'll be happy."
Sheesh. She gave up and left empty-handed. I guess they guy coldn't be wrong, as he was a man and she was (naturally enough) just a woman.
And yeah, our yards suck, unless you go to Schofield or the other military yards. Military yards rule, they aren't trying to make a profit off of JUNK.

Thats one main thing that pisses me off about j/k yards.A lot of parts I need are there but the guys that work there are so careless sometimes they just throw cars around and end up ruining perfectly good parts like gfx, fenders, doors, noses, bumpers etc..Heck,one time I saw a perfectly good dash board in a trans am and the next day when I went to get it someone had takin it out to use it to lay on while working under the car

Here in Wisconsin the cars come into the junk yard, they're parked out in the yard area and thats it. I think recently the state just started making them drain the fluids.
I have lost count of all the "free" license plates I have picked up at the junk yards!
I've got quite a few different states so far!
Nothing like seeing all these beautiful cars with the dash all torn up by crowbars, just to get the stereo out!
I saw one guy cutting the roof off a car with an axe! Man, one miss, and there goes a leg!
