I know in AZ, unless they have recently changed the law, the plate stays with the car, when we have purchased cars out in AZ we always get the plate. Because I have never registered a car out there I am not sure if your issued a new one, but I know we always got the old one. I am pretty sure thats why those cars have the plates on them.

In MI, the plate is yours, you remove it when you sell the car. Even so, if you sell a car, and the car was illegally parked, and the officer gives the car a ticket, and there was no plate they use the VIN, if the title was never transferred your still responsible for the ticket. Kinda sux.

Not true we sold a car about 2 years ago and did a release of liability we turned it into the dmv the next morning. a few weeks went by and we got a letter in the mail saying our car was impounded and we were responsible for 800.00 worth of fees. The person never transferd the title so we had to go to the tow yard and show them proof we turned in the form to the DMV.

What's wrong with that XS, If you can get it cheap enough I saw buy it and fix it up over time. It looks like a good shape car that might just need some TLC.

The ones around here do fuel but not oil or anything else.. Most times they dont even recover the R12 I saw a guy twisting the hell out of a ac line with vice grips (why?) and he got sprayed really bad. I made sure he was alright hes lucky he isent blind.

Hi John!
Out here in AZ, we keep the plate! When we sell a car, it has to be notorized, kinda intresting I think.
One thing I do like, is only one plate required!
No holes on the front of my 20th TTA!!!

Later,

George

Hi again John!
Been here almost a year so far.
That is what Arizona DMV told me.
I sell a car, it has to be notorized, and I keep the plate.
Did you use to live out here?

Hope this helps,

George

THe laws may be different from state to state, considering its a State licencing issue and not federal I would suspect that each state would have its own set of laws and "precidents" that ywould take effect. Since you live in CA, your laws may be different.

I have been told that MI actually recomends that when you sell a car that the two parties go to the "Secretary of State" (Michigans version of the DMV) together and have it transferred at the time of sale so such things do not happen.

Hey, emblems should be free... same as fuses, screws, speakers, radios, gauges, etc... if they fit in a tool box

Stealing is bad kids, don't do it.

I think the customers are just as bad, if not worse, than the employees. I once watched a guy trash an entire dashboard, inst. cluster, lower panel, and steering wheel just to get to a temperature gauge. Idiots.

I hate it when they pile cars on top of eachother, and then leave about 4" between them so you can't open the doors... that's just dumb!

Man reading this thread makes me want to go junkyard hopping. Last time i went to the pick & pull they had at least 30 3rd gens there mostly complete. But back then i didnt know what was good or bad on parts to snag i had only had my car for a month or two. I need to get back out there and find some stuff. Damn ebayers will pay top dollar for everything.

tHE CAPS LoCK AND SCROLL BUTTON ARE NOT WORKING RIGHT, MY 56K DIALUP DESERVES A GOOD BEATING, AS i SEE IT, THE PICTURE HEAVY CONTENT BOGS IT DOWN ON MY END,i GUESS
anyway...

I'm waiting for the text to show up...and waiting...
I needed to add, as an eBay guy, use the proxy bidding and worry more about your price then the next guy... You can't control their money
I find the deals are there, but don't forget to tack on an idea of shipping, if unknown. An engine or trans could cost $200 or so.
BILL-=

IIRC; a car I was bidding on cost $1400 or so to ship from CA to MN. I've found better deals vs the local yards on big items.

Its the part that makes the power buldge hood actually get cold air. It has a small switch that runs off vacuum and triggers the door to open under certain throttle conditions.

You can see it attached to the hood here.
