correct color for armrests
I was wondering what models of Firebirds came with black interior arm rests. Which ones were interior colored?? I want to get new one's for my '82 and the only ones I see you can get aftermarket are black. I always thought they were black anyway, but I''ve seen other colors as well. Since my interior is Dark Charcoal, are the armrests the same color as well?? It's hard to tell because the Charcoal almost looks black anyway. Also, what about the center console glove box cover?? Black or interior color? I've seen these in different colors also.

The earlier Trans Ams always got "blacked out" interiors. That meant that the dash, console, and arm rests where black regardless of interior color.
1982 is an oddball year in that T/As got the lower dash, and console painted/dyed dark charcoal regardless of interior color. All arm rests and grips remained black. Techically there isn't much of a difference between Firebird,S/E and Trans Am charcoal interiors in the way they are color keyed in '82.
Firebirds and S/Es got color keyed interiors. The lower half of the dash, console, and arm rests where the same color of the interior.

Hey, thanks alot. I always thought they had blacked out interiors, but wanted to make sure. I didn't know the lower dash and console were dark charcoal regardless of the interior.
