T-5 option codes
I was looking at 1989 option codes on the web and saw three different option codes for the T-5: MB1, MK6, M39, as well as another option, MM5, which does not specify a trans type beyond manual.
Can anyone tell me what this is all about? I expected one code for manual and one for auto.

I know at the very least, that there's 6-cyl T-5s, TBI T-5s, and TPI T-5s in that year, with different gear ratios.
I suspect that's at least part of why they're like that..... 3 different part #s on the Bill Of Materials for the transmission in the different cars.

My understanding is the MM5 code simply means the car came provisioned for a 5 speed manual transmission. The other codes you should find will tell you what type. My car has the MK6 which translates to Manual 5 speed, Borg Warner, 2.95 1st, O/D.

There are 2 different transmissions with the 2.95 (V8) 1st gear in that year; the TBI cars came with a .63 OD, and the TPI cars, or at least some of them, came with a .73. 2 different codes for those.
