I'm nearing the end of my front end resto project. I've degreased, zinc phospate'd (if thats a word) the control arms, crossmember and spindles then put on 3 coats of POR15. I'm now trying to put it back together but realized I don't know the proper torque for the bolts that hold the front crossmember to the frame. Anyone know the torque? Oh yeah, I've also replaced all the front bushings with a new PST set and stripped the engine bay before laying down 4 coats of PPG Black.

Tight enough so that it will not fall out... I am guessing since there 15mm bolds, about 40-65# each... DO NOT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, so call a Transmission place they should know. OR go to a good Library, they should have GM manuals where you can look it up.

Have you tried the Transmission board?

Thanks for the info. I'm talking about the front crossmember (the xmember that the motor mounts attach to. I couldn't find anything in the chiltons or haynes. Would a GM shop book on camaros have this? If so I have to buy one. The front end has NOTHING on it right now. The only thing is the steering column shaft sticking out of the firewall.

That's the K-member right? With six bolts to fasten it to the car?
If so then a popular value is 120 ft lbs, according to comments I received when asking what a popping noise could be from the front of my 'Bird. This can help eliminate popping sounds when turning the car at slows speeds near full lock.

Mark.

K-member...why didn't I know that. I've built 4 fricken 3rd gens. This is the most extensive project to date though. I'm about 14k into it with another 7k to go. Big bux but she'll look top notch and go like a rocket. We're estimating 700hp at the crank with 14lb of boost on a top notch built 383 sitting in front of a TKO600.
