Production Number Breakdown

Saw this 1988 IROC vert on ebay and he stated the following production numbers:
In 1988 Chevrolet made 96,275 camaros

27,811 of these were regular Z28’s

3,761 were convertibles

1,409 were convertible Z28’s

310 were convertible IROC Z28’s

and only 45 were convertible IROC Z28's with a factory 5 spd!!!

I asked him where he got the info and he said he a friend who worked at Rally Chevrolet and he researched the numbers.

I was not aware that GM broke down the numbers to what cars were Z28's-- IROCS and how many got autos or 5 speeds, is the info legit and just used to make his car more rare.
Here is the link if its still good:

They were correct with 2 of the statements made. There were 96,275 Camaros produced in 1988 and there were 3,761 Z28 convertibles. That's about it! ALL 1988 Z28s were IROC-Zs so being able to break it down the way they did is incorrect.

That's what I thought, was thinking I missed something in what I have seen here on TGO.

sounds like he just wanted to make his car sound more rare.

it is an unusual find, but not more valuable in any way unless someone wanted an M5 vert IROC.
