A peice at a time.
My buddy was looking at a Camaro today and brought it by for me to look at.
Well I can tell it was built from many cars.
It had 88 ground effect on the drivers side.
I think it had a IROC ground effect on pass side.
Z28 rear bumper
IROC on the dash emblem.
Nose appeared to be off of a RS
Seats console not sure
gauges looked to be 85 or so
Rear kinda threw me also. It is a 10bolt cover ,but has rear disk and he said a posi.
Here is the Vin code from the dash
1g1fp87h6fl4152
This is the Vin from the console
1G1AP8718EL125713
what can you tell me.

Its an 85 from the Dash VIN
I think the gages were the same from 85-89
85-90 IROC, RS & SC's with ground effects were all the same, so how can you tell the difference?
Also The Nose is the same for both, other than the painted or non-painted headlight buckets.
The Console is from an 84, but your VIN may be incorrect as I do not know what a "1" is for the engine.

I'm am no expert by any means.
The gauges I wasn't sure on.
The d.s. ground effect just says Camaro. I was thinking that was a 88 thing.
The p.s. has some decal left looks like it said Iroc.
The rear decal says Z28
The nose has the louvered insert. like on a RS.

For the most part the car is a hack. If it is an 85, based on the VIN, then the rear bumper will say Z28, not IROC-Z. The badge on the DS is from an 88. The front louvered area tells me that this car was originally an 85 Z28, not an IROC-Z. Most Z28 came without the fog lights. The Z28 also had silver (mostly) ground effects as did the 88 SC which is probably why it was chosen as the replacement for the DS GFX.
To tell if the car is an IROC-Z or Z28, look at the door sticker for the tire size. A 215 sized tire is a Z28, while the 245 will be the IROC-Z. The wonderbar on the front was an IROC-Z only feature in 85.

It is a hack job for sure. Don't get me wrong the body is strait and the interior is nice. I can't believe the seats have no tears.
I would take. What was bothering me is the guy is trying to say its a IROC. It has definitely been built. the Door sticker is gone.
It was someones hot rod. It has a lift off cowl hood and a 355 with a pretty lumpy lope. B&M megasshifter.
I was told it has a 350th and 3.73 gears. I was at work so I only got a minute to look it over. I did look for a wonder bar. Didn't see one. The Diff cover was a 10 bolt.
I would say my friend will get it any way. He probably doesn't care. It just bothers me .
Thanks for your help guys.
I don't get to this board much but I am a Third gen guy all the way.
I have had 3 Camaros and one Formula.
I will have my 84 Z. as long as its in my power to do so. Its in a slow restoration. Not show quality. Just trying to get it nice again.
The years of daily driving took its toll.
BTW I LOVE that IROC.
Someday I would like to have one like it.
Almost forgot. What about a 7.5 with rear disk brakes? was that a option?
