3 speed auto tannys in 83?

i was reading a B&M shifter install and it said that the 83 and up camaros came with 4 speed auto trannys... now i know its an aftermarket company but shouldnt they get their info right? i have an 83 with a 3 speed auto... are the 3 speeds just left overs from the 82 model year? and i have an 83 model that was produced in 82?

Both the 700R4 and TH200C were available in 83.
