do not know where this sits but for the last 6 months i've been looking and haven't found a 350 tpi car less then $2,500 list that is worth looking at. the 91-92's are extremly hard to find as well as the maf cars however rust is a big issue. if it's rusted, particularly the passenger floor and rear quarters anything over $3,000 is a bit much. if there are holes in the floor or quarters then it should be less then $2,000. assuming all is well. those two items are extremely expensive to fix. everything else is reasonable. it is cheaper to buy a 4thgen in comparison.

I did not know late 3rd gens were a rust trap Must be the floorpans or other unseen parts because I've yet to come across a rusty fender, door, OR quarter panel! Maybe I just live in a good area??

Talked to a guy whose been looking for a mint z28 for a year and half in Ontario and he said most of them had bad rust by the strut towers and firewall even if they looked good elsewhere.

I find it amazing how much of a demand the 350 cars are appearing to bring. When I go to a car show the FIRST thing everyone seems to ask about the engine is, "Is it a 350?" That in itself is enough to suggest to me that the 350 cars are going to be substantially more desirable than any 305 car of any type. Granted the T-top 350 cars will bring the most, Other than the 1LE/Hawk & TTA. Just by paying attention to the 2nd gen crowd, the T-top cars are more desiarable than non-T-top cars, especially for the Special Edition (Bandit) type of cars.

Historically speaking there are 2 classes that typically have determined what made a car desirable.
1) Performance, Any car that has the fastest of the fastest engine seems to pull more. Sorry 1LE guys, I do not see this as really effecting you as much as you would like. The reason I say this is there was nothing typically different about your engine peormance over a standard car. Where the 1LE cars will become desirable is the brake & suspensions were upgraded. To much of your disbelief the Aluminum driveshaft does NOT increase the power enough to make much of a notable difference, its purpose is more to lower the unsprung weight of the rear suspension, therefore giving you better traction and cornering.

2) Convertables. Historically speaking a Convertable will bring considerably more money than its hard top counterpart. Likewise T-tops will fit into this category to a certain extent, But because almost half of the 3rd gens have T-tops it will not effect the value of the car significantly enough unless you have performance to go with it. IE a V6 car with T-tops will not typically bring significantly more than a hard top. BUT that same car with a 350 will bring significanly more with T-tops than without. The reason I say this is most of the SERIOUS folks on the boards are looking for that perfect 350/T-top car. I can name 2 without much thought that looked for it and or they own one.

I think I came out all right. I bought a clean Flordia 1989 305 Iroc-Z and spent $500 on a complete L98. All I need is paint now to make it great.

re: okfoz

while i do agree with your assesment somewhat, 1LE cars are bringing way more than a comparable 305TPI/5SPEED IROC. at least up here in minn. also, year of 1LE will also make a difference. My 89 1LE 5Speed is one of 52. whereas a 91/92 model is closer to triple that.(partially due to the B4C pkg.) Up here, 91 1LE cars are selling for 15,000 to 22,000 depending on year and condition. I only paid 8,000 for mine because i work for a dealer and got it at an auction. it had 6500 actual miles on it and had never been titled. i have a carfax from just recently showing me as the only owner Unfortunately it had been raced so i know it will never be worth as much as the high- dollar ones, but how many one-owner, 12,000 actual miles camaros still exist

i have never seen this problem, doesn't mean it isn't true but i've been fortunate i suppose.

mainly the rear quarters first, the floor pans and then the doors. everything else like the hood, hatch, and fenders are cheap to replace. also back along the rear support under neath the bumper cover that seems to be rusted out quite often.

we found that about my dad's car as we took the bumper off to repaint it. Its an easy fix but they can get hard to find. It took us a lot of trips to the local junkyard to find one one without rust.
