86 Firebird V6... disc rear??
Me and a friend picked up a free car today, an 86 Firebird. It has a 2.8 V6, 5 speed, MINT grey interior, etc.
My question is this... was it common to get the rear disc brakes in a V6 car? I've never seen it!

I don't know Firebirds. I've never seen rear disc's on a V6 car.
That being said, for Camaro from 82-86 rear disc's were availble on any model. So one would think you could even get them with an Iron Duke.
There doesn't appear to be any drive train restrictions until 87

I think if you check your facts, you will find that the S/E WAS available in 1986.

Ya, the car is sweet. I hope to rip out this rear and put it in the berlinetta, as well as the interior. It looks like nobody ever sat in it. It is really amazing.

All Firebirds receive center high mounted stop lamps as required by Federal legislation, placed on top of back window. Standard 2.5L 4 cylinder engine dropped, multi port fuel injected 2.8L V6 now becomes the standard engine.
Firebird SE discontinued.
New optional rubber/vinyl wrap-around rear spoiler introduced on Trans Am, available only in black. Mid year Pontiac introduces new light weight crosslace wheel available on Trans Am.
Only 26 Trans Ams with the 305 H.O L69 in 86. Discontinued because of fuel boiling. Paint RPO's change for new base-coat, clear-coat process.
