Those center caps are correct. All the "early birds" had dark gold centers regardless of exterior color of the car.

The gold tail panel bird would be correct for a black car. I think white 84's with gold lower accents would have a gold bird also.

I'm pretty sure the gold rear tail panel bird was only used in the GTA.. The rest of the Firebird line got the same bird, but in silver.....

It's the same with the small 'PONTIAC' letters under the driver's side headlight door.. They were gold for the GTA and silver for the rest.......

Not true...my '82 TA has a gold bird and it's stock. I have a black car with gold trim on the bottom though, I'm pretty sure all other colors got silver. You are right about the "PONTIAC" letters though, only gold for the GTA. Not even Recaro's got gold letters. Also, the one on EBAY will NOT fit early '82-'84 firebirds. If it's rounded as the seller says, it will only fit 85+ birds. I bought one on Ebay a while back and it was rounded. Wont fit early 'birds. As far as I know, nobody makes replacements for '82-'84 birds.

I hate when people sell parts that say "82-92". Most of the people don't know what the differences are. '82-'84 and '85-'92 are completely different, mostly with interior and cosmetic stuff. Mechanical maybe.

Although the bird center caps look great for your car, ( I would have done it also ) the "PONTIAC" center caps are correct for 1983. The "bird" caps weren't used until 1984.

I know, because my 83 T/A also came with those same "PONTIAC" caps.

It's not a decal set, it's the tail light emblem. It's not a decal, it's a molded piece of plastic that has adhesive strips on the back. If it is curved like in the Ebay item it will not fit early '82-'84 firebirds. The early ones were flat. Since the redesigned taillights in '85 had a curve to them, it wont fit early years. Like I said, nobody makes reproductions for '82-'84 that I know of. If you want a different color or a better condition one, you have to find the complete center panel in good shape.

Sorry for joining in , but my question has been answered too. I was wondering which wheel centre caps to buy - new ones keep turning up on e-bay. Morticia should have the black caps with gold firebird on them it seems. Mind you she may look good with some chrome caps, also with gold 'bird.

82 KR you may want to give autografics a try for a decal set, their prices seem cheap, but the vinyls are great. I bought some gold T/A ones for Morticia and it transformed her - she hadn't got any decals on when I bought her (pics soon!). It cost me just over £20 Sterling including shipping to get a full 85 set (small 'bird emblem on nose) but not including the bloody great TRANS AM decal across the top of the windscreen

Cheers,
Mark.

Nice one!

We were thinking more of Morticia Addams - sexy, dressed to kill in black. I did think of Elvira (Mistress of the Dark), but one of our friends has that as his nickname (he says he's Elvira's no.1 fan!), so my wife didn't want images of him when we were referring to the car
