Just to clarify, the OEM louvers are not Cragars. The originals have a GM part number (as shown).

Cragars are more rare because they were the rattle traps and most people discarded them after some time. It was the Cragar louvers that give the rest of the louvers a bad name.

The factory set fit better, didn't rattle and looked much better. I didn't care about the name on them as they are always referred to as "louvers"

it appears as tho the cragars that are on the blue car stand farther from the rear window than the pic of the OEM ones... probably to accomidate the rear window wiper.

I hade the crager ones on my 2nd gen. and they did not rattle. They were applied with double sided tape. I was just wondering if the factory ones were installed like this? It,s funny because in th 80's when i had my 2nd gen. louvers were all the rage then they dissappeared for all the 90's and now you guy have a lot of interest.

I think all Cragar louvers stood up taller. I have bought 2 cars in the past with them on. They stood up tall just like his. Neither one of my cars had a rear wiper. I agree with Scott the factory louvers are much nicer.

Re: I found the original louver instructions

Any chance of getting these scanned and posted? Hard to read as is. I have a set I need to reattach after I removed them years ago. Would be a great help. Thanks!

What do you need help with? Also, are your Cragar or factory?

Re: I found the original louver instructions

Sorry for the delay....been distracted....but they are Cragar louvers. Had them on the car for 10 years and never had any problems at all. I took them off a few years back because the car was off the priority list. Now I am restoring it back and thought it would be easier to have the original Cragar directions. If not I am sure I'll figure it out. They are not that complicated. But thanks!

Re: I found the original louver instructions

Now most important... does anyone have any of the hardware pieces to sell me. I only need 1 bracket to make my set immaculate. The one on the side closest to the spoiler. I will take any side bracket cause I can tweak them to work properly.

thank you

Jeff

I remember seeing the louvers disappearing after they became broken, sunbaked, and warped. It didn't take long for them to become a rare sight. Many of the cars that had them removed went through the euro phase of the late 80's-early 90's.
