I was looking at the stripes on the bottom of my car and was wondering how the reproductions compare to the originals. Also how do the stripes come? I always thought they were just one big strip that had the smaller black strips printed on it. Upon inspecting mine it looks like each black stripe is individual with a bigger stripe as the background. Example...large gold stripe with smaller black stripes over the gold. If I wanted to I could peel off the smaller black stripes. Is this how they came originally? I'm pretty sure the stripes are factory but I know the front bumper are newer and they are this way as well, althought the gold color doesn't match. It's a little brighter, but that is probably because the other's have faded over time. Anyway, if someone knows please tell me.

 

Body shops just get a decal made for the correct size & color.

 

my black and gold 82's decals were like that salthough they look like individual gold stripes they were like a 2 inch wide strip of tape with gold background and black stripes ... and no I've never found reproductions like this. The reproductions I bought were like 4 individual gold stripes which didnt even match anyways so I left them off the car

 

after further inspection I was looking at the decals on my rear bumper and they are a totally different design. It is actually one gold strip with the black stripes like printed on, vs each stripe an individual decal. It's almost like the side decals were cusom made where each individual stripe was applied. Which one is correct?

I looked at some old pictures I have of when '82s were new and the decals appear to be one peice.

 

I got a decal set for both my old 82 and 83 I used to have. I got them from Phoenix Graphix out here in AZ. They were identical reproductions and priced well.

 

I've been looking for an exact reproduction of the originals but usually the ones I find have the birds with the 3 feathers on their neck, vs. the stock two feathers. I'll have to check out phoenix graphics and see if they have 2 or 3 feathers. I know...I'm picky

I just looked at thier site and it seems they have the 2 feather bird but they don't actually show the decals, just photos of cars with the decals.

 

Got my 83 TA graphics from Phoenix as well, i'm no expert on graphics, but these look pretty damn good to me.

 

its too bad my 82 t/a has been totally repainted with stupid plum crazy purple paint....

no stripes or birds on it anywhere now

some day though..


will be stock correct silver blue metallic again and will find birds and stripes for it,,

i dont know what color the GFx and spoiler and such were originally though, they are black currently,
blue with black existed on 82 t/a i know though
