Correct lighting for '89 RS
I got an '89 Camaro RS. When the car was imported (i live in Europe), lighting had to be changed due to Austrian standards. Now I like to change my car back to U.S. lighting, I already got the parking and side marker lights to work. Here is my question: Do the rear turn signals have to light with the ones up front and the side markers permanently? I'm not sure, I can only rely on photographs (there ain't to much cars in U.S. trim around here!), but photos don't show exactly what I´m looking for, on some the amber back signals light, on some they don't (I got a picture of a thridgen Formula with the amber turn signals, the do not light while the side markers do). I'm very confused. Is there a difference between Chevy and Pontiac, and between different model years, too? Please help!

I can only answer for Camaro's. Here goes, the amber front running lights and side marker lights come on solid in the running light mode, (first detent when pulling the headlight switch). The rear outer red tail lights also come on at this time. The rear amber lights do not. The same for the 2nd detent which turns on the headlights. Turning on the turn signals or emergency flashers cycles the side marker and front turn signal lights as well as the rear amber turn signal lights. All 3 lights pulse or cycle on and off at the same time. A second filament in the red outer tail light turns on when the brakes are applied. The licnese plate lights turn on with the running lights and headlights mode. I hope this answers your questions. Lon

One other detail - Each side marker light is connected across the pair of filaments (run and turn) of its respective front turn signal bulb. So, activating a turn signal causes the side marker to flash in unison with the front turn signal when the running lights are turned off and flash opposite (the side marker bulb is off while the front turn bulb is on) the front turn signal when the running lights are turned on.
