Kat,

These characters are very difficult to see sometimes. We're missing a couple of digits. Here's an example for 1990:

6HKG2091

6HK = rear axle ratio (3.08 in this example)
G = Chevrolet Gear and Axle Plant
209 = 209th day of the year
1 = 1st (Day) shift.

You should have a one character before and one after the "H" in your code. The first character can be a 2, 6 or 8. The third (after the "H") will be a letter (too many to mention here).

Hey Willie how do you find out what the first 3 characters mean (axle ratio) I believe mine is

2HPC3111
2HP = what axle ratio?
C = what (or maybe it was a G)?
311 = 311th day of the year?
1 = 1st shift?

John, I have a reference manual with almost all codes listed: Engine, transmission, rear axle, paint, trim, etc.

I believe mine is 2HPC3111
2HP = what axle ratio?
C = what (or maybe it was a G)?
311 = 311th day of the year?
1 = 1st shift?
2HP = 2.73:1 open
It is a "G"
Correct on the 311 & 1

Willie
