What is the different between a Z - 28 & IROC -Z

What do I do to see the different between a Z-28 & a IROC-Z ?

I'm looking for a '85 - '89 Camaro conv. but I've been told to stay away from TBI-models and get a TPI-model instead, which is best ?

Have you ever heard about a '81 Z-28 conv. ?
We got 1 here in Denmark!

Car: 89 Formula

Z28 was discountinued in 88, until 91.
The IROCs have 16" wheels std 85-87.
Different steering and suspension,
body coloured gr F/X.
THe factory did not start producing 3rd gen convertables until 87.
You'd be happier with a TPI one.
I'm sure any 81 convert is an aftermarket thing.

Car: 1987 Z28 Convertible
Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: 5-speed
The IROC-Z option (RPO B4Z) was available on 1985 - 1987 Z28's. It's strictly a suspension and appearance package.

Suspension
The spring rates are identical, but the struts and shocks are specifically valved for the 16" IROC-Z wheels (15" on the Z28). The ride height of the IROC-Z was 15mm lower than the Z28. The IROC-Z came equipped with a "wonderbar", a stiffening bar that is mounted at the front sway bar mounting location. The steering gear ratio in both cars are also the same. The only difference is the IROC-Z steering box had stops to prevent the larger 16" tires from hitting the wheelwell.

Appearance
The Z28 ground effects were painted silver, gold or charcoal and came with specific striping. The IROC-Z had body-colored ground effects, its own striping and "IROC-Z" door decals. Fog lamps were standard with the IROC-Z. They were not available on the 1985 Z28, were optional on the 1986 Z28 and part of RPO 1SC (Preferred group option package #3 -- contained virtually every power option) in 1987.

Drivetrain
Identical although in 1987, the following options were only available with the IROC-Z:

1) Engine oil cooler,
2) G92 Performance axle ratio &
3) Rear disc brakes.

The G80 limited-slip was available on both cars and was a mandatory option with the TPI (305 & 350).

In 1988, Chevrolet decided to reduce the number of Camaro models -- they thought ordering one became much too complicated for the average consumer. In 1987, there was the Sport Coupe, Sport Coupe with LT option, the Z28 and the Z28 with IROC-Z option. The LT option was discontinued. Because of the popularity of the IROC-Z, the Z28 was discontinued too. So from 1988 - 1990, the IROC-Z became a model replacing the Z28. It's interesting to note that RPO B4Z (1985 - 1987 IROC-Z) was replaced with RPO Z28 on the 1988 - 1990 IROC-Z's.
