Attention All '88 GTA Convertible owners...
I'm just looking to see if there are any other ASC converted '88 GTA's out there. Let me know if you have one, or if you know of someone who has one. Thanks. - John

You personally know of 4 off hand? From what I understand, there were only close to 8 converted by ASC. Regardless, I'm looking to find some info on my '88 305 GTA convertible. I essentially have a convertible that isn't supposed to be.
As for as I know, it was converted by ASC, but I'm not sure if it was someone at the dealership that sent it over, if it was the first owner, or what... Because GM doesn't recognize it as a factory convertible, talking to people at the dealerships and such about it is extremely frustrating.
I guess I'm basically looking for some production numbers, a working email address or phone number for ASC, and if possible, something to prove my car is as rare as I'm told. - John '89 L98

Actually there were quite a few made, even some with 350's. I think ASC did them in 88 and 89, they even did a TTA convertable. Look below the stickers on your drivers side door, if there is a sticker that says ASC, then it is real, if not, is was a conversion done after it was sold and possibly not even by ASC........

Wait a minute... I thought all '88 GTA convertibles were done after they were sold anyway. They're not from the factory, and the factory never sent them over to ASC. It was a customer initiated deal. That's why GM never officially sold an '88 GTA convertible.
As for the sticker, I know the sticker was there long ago, before the car was repainted. You can still see where the sticker was. There have only been two owners before me, and the guy I bought it from has been a buddy of mine for the last 10 years. He's owned in 9 of those years. Besides, there's gotta be another way to identify it being from ASC. A sticker on the door can't be the only mark they left. Right? - John '89 L98

You might want to consult with Hank at Paradise Auto. He is "The" ASC guy and if anyone knows about when and where when it comes to these cars, he will. I know that he had/has one of the two (I believe) TTA convertibles built at ASC Livonia.
