Camaro, the Third Generation

Willie, I did some poking around on this book, and according to amazon.com, the publication date is 1981. I thought this book had all sorts of thirdgen info? It would seem that either that publication date is an error, or the book is just all about the development?

Jim,

I have both the first and third printing of this book. The books are completely different. The first printing is dated December 1981. The third printing is dated 1987.

The ISBN is a unique number and can be used to gather data on a particular publication. The first printing's ISBN is 0-932128-02-5. The third is 0-89586-460-6.

Hope this helps.

Willie

It certainly does. Now if I can just find a copy! My avenues through amazon.com all came up dry as I'm sure previous others have found. My mother works at a library, so maybe she'll have some luck. Thanks.

I tried ordering mine through Barnes and Noble, and it was so old it wasn't even listed anymore!! Normally they have records for out of print books, but I think this one may be too far out of print....

Jim,

Did you have Amazon put you on their list for searching? They will check all their connections (book stores, dealers, whatever) and if they ever find it, will get in touch with you.

I did this for some book and totally forgot about it. About 3-4 months later, Amazon sent me an email because they found my book in some bookstore somewhere and could get it for me.

Maybe this will help you.

I just bought it today. Neeener Neener Neener!!!!

My mother (librarian) did a little digging and found a website that has a huge search engine for used books, and some store in California had it listed. I immediately bought it, and now I'm just hoping that I don't get a "Sorry, we sold out 14 years ago and just didn't update our website" type of message.

Egg on my face! The place emailed me back and said that they already sold it
They should have taken it off their listing.

I found it at another location, except now I'm going to get cranked for $50!!

This better be worth it!

It came in last night

That book is absolutely astonishing. Well worth the 50 clams it cost me. Some of the prototypes are extremely interesting to see, especially considering how many rejected ideas were used later on. Awesome book.

I'm taking your word Jim that this book is good because I just ordered it through Barns & Noble from some book store in NV. The price was $20.00 and it says it is in very good condition. I hope I don't get an e-mail saying they don't have it anymore.

You sure you ordered the 3rd printing and not the first printing? Barns & Noble is where I ordered mine, and mine was the only one listed, and it was $50. The first printing was listed for about $20 from a bunch of places.

Thanks for the heads up Jim I just stopped the order. I'll just have to keep on looking for it. Now the copy I want is the Third Edition right?

Yea that book is great I got it a few months ago. I paid 50 canadian for mine but it was shipped from the USA somewhere so they sorta raped me on shipping :P I just called a few local book stores and they did some poking around for me, wasnt too hard at all. Its definately worth the money though, tons of interesting info.

Well guys, I guess I have my own version of this rare book. I have a copy of "Pontiac's Third Generation Firebird & Trans-Am".

It also has a lot of prototype drawings as well as photos and is quite similar in respect to what you have described.

The author is Martyn L. Schorr

Hey Jim check this out. I've got both editions of this book too. The first one is signed by some Norwood assembly line workers, and the second is signed by some Van Nuys assembly line workers.
