Since this is the pseudo convt board... Take an empty sewing thread spool. slightly oval out one end of the spool. When you lower your top, let the spike latch on the bottom of the window drop into the spool. This does two things. First, it keeps you from scratching the plastic piece that is glued to the carpet. And most important, it keeps the outter edge of the convertible top from being smashed in the holding area. That way when the top goes back up, those loose flaps of top material around the edge don't stand up and look bad. Don't worry, there is plenty of room for the tonneau cover to come down over the top.

I have started a registry of 1992 Z28 convertibles. Since I own one, and they only made 1254 I thought it would be neat to document as many as possible.
Just an Access spread sheet with VIN, Color,Top color, Interior type/color, Auto or 5spd/Cass or CD/ZO3 or non-ZO3/ASC build date and other info.
Who knows, one day I'll get with Willie and we'll write a book about 3rd gen convertibles.

Maybe a couple more of us should pick a year so that all six years of factory production are covered. As of now, I would be willing to start taking info on all 1989 model year convertibles and documenting as many of them as possible. So there. I just started a 1989 registry with my own being the first entry. I will add to my sig that all 89 vert owners should contact me so I can record all pertinent info. Perhaps a couple other owners could take some initiative and document a specific year if you happen to own one.

 

Well I don't own a convertible Z28 but while on the topics of registries, I have a 1992 Trans Am GTA specific registry on TransAmGTA.com and so far I hace about 48 of the 226 that were made logged

Hi guys, I just read about the ragtop registry. If you haven't done so count me in. What info do you need?

 

Some hints for your 89 registry, check out traderonline.com and classifieds2000.com.
Check all the adds, especially on 2000.com. Some are listed as "92 Camaro" dealership add. They turn out to be Z28's, convertibles etc.
Good luck, one day someone will want this info, trust me!
