camaro and firebird same car?

i have a long standing debate with my friend he says the camaro and the firebird are two completely different cars because they are manufactured by different companies. i said they both use the same frame , ls1 engine and borg warner 6 speed tranny, and suspension, etc. please tell me if i am wrong but if not please tell me where i can get proof. he insist that the engine trannny and everthing are different.

Yes, the camaro and firebird are the same car. They are built by *different* subsidaries of the same corporation, GM, which internally refers to the Camaro/Firebird as the F-body. If you want to prove it to him show him any catalog or website that sells performance parts for the "F-body" and all of the parts for Camaros and Firebirds will be the same (or at least the same Part Number if they are listed in separate categories).

Camaros and Firebirds are both manufactured at the same plant, and always have been since 1967. The only difference is the interior style and the body panels. The engine, frame, transmission, axles, etc are identical.
