Well i am inclind to say no its not original on a TA. But in some cases GM did use carbs on 89 trucks. But these were HD aps that still used the early/mid 80's model truck instead of the later 80's/90's model.

Thirdgens started with fuel injection in 82-83 Cross Fire cars, then back to carb in 84. In 85 they released TPI, and in 88+ all f-bodies were fuel injected.

well they were an option in 82-84 , you could still get the carb in those years , i had an 83 TA carbed car , as for 89 no its not factory , 87 was the last year carb not many in 87 but there are a few out there , anything after that had FI either TBI or TPI

Is it remotely possible that you're confusing a throttle body with a carb? After all, the 305 TBI was the base engine in the 1989 Z28/TA. They do look the same to the unknowning eye, so I thought I'd ask.
