What was the FIRST Camaro/Firebird you ever Owned ?
I am just Wondering how I could get to know the Community here a Little Better . So I thought this Board in Particular would be approiate for this question. "
What was the First Camaro/Firebird you ever Owned ?
I will start off and say my 1969 RS 350 camaro . Back in 1973 I bought this Car . An Ugly Yellow with Black Stripes , a Vinyl Top , Hide Away Headlights , and Black Vinyl Interior . My Favorite part of that Car was the METAL Front of the dash . I had the Factory 4 Speed Muncie and got a Hurst Shifter for it . I kept burning out the Clutch alot , so I Finally Sold it to a Friend of Mine . A Year later , I heard he Drove it into the bay in Ocean City New Jersey . A salvage yard Towed it Out and took it to the Yard for Scrap . He found out Later that the Frame got Bent when he hit a Bulkhead . I Wish I still had it though , Sucker would be Worth some Bucks today if it was rebuilt ........ Sigh....

1987 IROC
Blue with paint coming off in 6 inch chunks
Dealer found it in a bean field and got it running
I bought it for $3100 in '94, Traded in on my '91 Firebird 3 months later.
That dealer shipped it to Texas as wholesale junk.
Wherever it is, it is worth more than my 91 now

I was 20 in 1991 and I bought a new 1991 Camaro RS 5.0 TBI. The car was totalled on 10-13-1992.
I went on to own:
1973 Camaro RS/Z28 (1993-5/2004)
1992 Formula L03 (1996 to 1997 and then I owned it again from 2000 to 10/27/2005)
1997 Camaro SS (1996 to present)
1969 Camaro SS 350 (1998 to 5/2004)
1990 Camaro IROC-Z (5/2004 to present)
1991 Camaro Z28 L98 (10/27/2005 to present)
1987 Camaro IROC-Z Convertible LB9 (10/27/2005 to present)
Yep, that's right, I actually sold a '69 Camaro SS and a early 2nd gen Camaro in favor of owning thirdgen F-bodies.

1986 v6 2.8 bird. whit with ugly smokey and bandit rims. currently for sale as i now have a 1988 GTA that is totaly sweet.
I bought my 83 Trans Am in November of 89 ( consequently the same month and year my Formula was built, things that make you go hmmmm
) before I even had a drivers license.
It was loadedwith every available option for 83, except for Recaro seats. Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Power Mirrors, Power Antenna, Power Driver Seat, Electric Trunk Release, Rear Window Defroster, Rear Window Wiper,PMD seats, Locking hard Cargo Cover, Security Shade Full Gauge package, Tilt Column, Trip Odometer, Delay Wipers, Cruise Control, Air Conditioning, Locking gas Filler Door, 305 Engine with Cross-Fire Fuel Injection with a factory Cold Air Induction kit and of course T-Tops. The car was Black with a Black Interior. The car also came with American Racing wheels, which I never liked and did eventually get a set of stock wheels which never made it on the car before it got totalled.

Looking for another 442 or GN/Turbo-T to replace my wrecked 442.
I like something a little different that most and happened to find a clean higher mileage car (TTA) that was worth it.
Than the 91 Formula came along and later yet a 17k original owner 91 GTA :-)
lol Ya know I swore up and down I would never own a POS F body. Look what happened. thousands of dollars later, here I am lol

my first f body is the one i currently own, a 1989 Firebird Formula 305 (LO3) auto (700R4). My dad bought it for 6300 dollars back in 1995 with 36k miles on her. Now she has 105k miles on her and still runs great First time he showed me the car i was 9 years old and the only thing i cared about was what the speedometer topped out at "120" and i thought that made the car fast since i was used to seein "85" on every other car. He took me for a ride and about 10 minutes into it i said i wanted the car, and well he told me if i did good in school it would be mine, and now it is

I purchased my first F-Body, a 1990 RS convertible used in Spring of 1991. It was just shy of 5K on it when I bought it, currently it has 117K.
#2 was a 1988 IROC TPI 5-speed with 97K that is sitting under cover patiently waiting to be restored.
#3, in Summer of 2004 I rescued a high mileage 1988 Firebird Formula 5.0 TPI runner. I don't mind putting miles on it considering it had just shy of 292K when I got it. I was amazed with that many miles on it that it passed CA smog check and still had a functional A/C and cruise control.

A pewter/ebony 2001 NHRA Edition Trans Am with a 6 speed. I bought it new in January of 2002. Turns out it had a ton of rust on pretty much everything on the car, so I had the dealer refinish the steering and suspension components, only to have a brake caliper come off while I was driving it two weeks later because they forgot to torque the caliper pins. I traded it in on the 2002 that I have now. I later found out that it was 1 of less than 200 NHRA editions built that year, and probably 1 of a handful with those options....

my first camaro/firebird i vought in '98 it was a 85 Camaro Berlinetta, 305 auto. Did alot of work to that car. Custom Iroc hood, repainted it black. Swapped all suspension, brakes and wheels from a 89 formula 350 ws6 i got for parts. Was a fun car. Sold it to a friend in '00.
Second camaro/firebird was a 87 v6 bird i bought in '99. bought it for $100 with nose damage. swapped the body parts and interior from the parts formula to it. drove it for a few days Sold it for $200. same friend bought it. Actually this was sold to him a year before the camaro.
Third is my 88 iroc convertable. Ive had it for approx 2 1/2 years. Still have it. Wasnt looking for another camaro at the time. But cant pass up free.

Mine was an 89 RS which I've had for years now, it's always been reliable transportation.
I found the 87 IROC-Z I always wanted and searched for in the summer of 04, then won my first trophy with it at a pretty big show in the summer of 05.

Thanks Meinherr49. After almost 9 years I've basically completely rebuilt the whole car. She still has her issues of course like all old cars do, but for some reason I still hang on to her. I keep telling myself if I sold her I could put the money into one of the others, but I can't seem to part with her.

A 1968 Camaro RS. It was my second car, but my first new car.
Marina blue, white interior, 327, 4 sp, with the performance
axle. That was a buy. The standard axle was a 3.08. The book
said economy or performance, non-positraction avialable for $2.15.
I got the 3.55 performance axle. I ordered it on a friday in December
of 1967, and the factory went on strike the following monday. It came
into the dealers 3 months later. Cost was $3015.00. Drove it 75,000
miles in 2 years and traded it for a 70 Chevelle SS.

89 2.8 auto. Bought it in 98.
Next will be a 4th gen TA or formula sometime this year. I'm keeping the 89 though too. Too many fuzzy memories and adventures in Europe with it.
Plus, I wouldn't be able to get enough money out of it to make much of a dent in the cost of a 4th gen.

My First car was a 1978 Camaro Type LT. I bought it on March 5th, 1990 at the ripe young age of 15. (saved my paper route and christmas money since I was 10 for that moment) It was the 7133 grey (silver), had T-tops, Nova Rally wheels and a luggage rack. I immediately removed that and installed a Z-28 spoiler. It had a 2 barrel 305 with the choke wired open. It didn't like the upstate NY winters when it was cold. It must have been an early model year car as it had the older style dash (a mid 1978 changeover)
I had this car for just over a year, as after having saved enough money to buy a local 300hp 350, about 5 minutes after receiving the car (the seller installed it) it backfired through the carb, caught fire under the hood and the car burned to the ground.
Many hard lessons were learned that day, including that cars don't always explode like seen in the movies, basic liability insurance doesn't cover car fires and to always carry a fire extinguisher...
That car was replaced by a 1984 trans Am (bought June 6th, 1991) which I still have to this day. The extinguisher is in the center console

1987 Camaro... 2.8 V6, 5 speed, not a single option. No power anything, no radio, no AC, no defrost, etc.
I got it for my 16 birthday. I blew the motor before I ever registered it doing brake stands in my driveway!
I later traded it to a guy to help yank the motor on my 67 Riviera. Good times.
EDIT: It had the rare paddle mirrors too that were found on export 3rd gens... thought that was weird.
