Help Please. Two questions about value.
I have 2 questions so please bear with me.
My dad has a fully loaded 85 Z-28, not an IROC, with TPI and Auto. It has 10K miles and has never seen snow, rain or a hose. Never been washed. Only cleaned with a damp rag. Will this car increase in value nicely even though it is not an IROC?
My car is an 86 Firebird. Base model, black,305, Auto, factory level 2 suspension. Not loaded but has tilt and air. Never driven in winter here in Wisconsin.Car has no underbody rust. However both fenders were bent when I swapped out the tranny 2 years ago. It rolled off the blocks I had it on.Not bad. The front bra hides the damage. My wife wants to drive the car in winters starting next year.
Is this car worth not driving in winter? Should I battle my wife?
Thanks,
scott

Yours dads car is worth i would say about 7k-8k because of the low miles i would believe, maybe more,as for yours the value is probably not too high, but please keep the thirdgen alive and dont let the wife use it for the winter, these cars are quickly becoming extinct,i hate seeing them being used as beaters, somebody correct me if i am wrong on my estimate of his dads car,its just my opinion.

I was about to say $8-10K or possibly more. The deciding factor on price isn't the rarity of an 85 Z28, but the condition and mileage of the car. I have seen some selling for even more than that. My 87 IROC with 6500 miles could've sold for $13-15K had it been listed for that. (I know of one that sold for $13.5k with low miles) The Firebird would be a loss if it's in great shape, if not, use it for your needs and either fix it up again some day or buy another. There really isn't any great value in the car except that which you have for it.

I'm tempted to encourage you to let your wife have the '86 for the winter. It would make mine that much rarer. But, I can't do it. You could explain to her how "terrible" these cars are in the snow. Matter of fact, in the wrong hands they are terrible. If you are concerned at all for the safety of your wife and the well-being of your '86, keep it parked when the snow flies.
