I'm wondering what everbody's thoughts are as far as swapping a manual tranny into an automatic car. Would this affect future resale value at all (although I dont plan on selling it). I just would hate to cut holes in a car if it will reduce the value, no matter how much more fun it would be for me to drive. By the way, the car in question is a 91 Z28.

If you wanted to sell it as a collectable original, then yes, putting a different style transmission in would certainly reduce value. But, unless you plan on selling this as an original stock low mile collector's item, it won't matter.

That's what I wanted to hear. I'm having trouble finding a 5 speed TPI car, and have a wrecked 5 speed Camaro, so I'd be all about swapping trannys. Read the tech article and it doesn't sound too bad.

I made the swap. I couldn't care less if it effected the resale value of my car. It made a world of difference in the personality of the car. Much more fun to drive now that I can row the gears. There are a few surprises with the swap though. E-mail me and I can clue you in. 8^)
