88rs convertible :how much should i pay?

whats this car worth, a 88 rs convertible, with a 305 tbi,59 kmiles ok interior(ugly red some rips), top has two or three pen holes, needs new rear window, has big dent in passenger door and small dent in pass. fender. otherwise nice paint, but the car is a STOLEN RECOVERY. just got a new title. vin number was stolen off the car. maroon body with a black top. spioler trunk is all there, and the topdoes work,needs a wind shield. $2500?? 3500?? what would you pay?

If it's a theft recovery, the car has already had it's dues paid. Based on the condition and what needs to be done, I would say $1500 would be the max! Add the $$ to repair the interior, replace the top, fix body damage and repaint, you could have $3k easily into the car above purchase price. You could probably find one similar in mileage but better condition for about $5k (high side) without the hassles.

To the best of my knowledge, there were no 1988 RS convertibles produced. There were Sport Coupe convertibles though. The two cannot be differentiated by the VIN, only RPO codes. Is it possible to obtain the codes?

1A1 = RS
Z08 = Convertible

Willie, I just assumed that since most people are unaware of the RS in the 88 model year that he was referring to the Sport Coupe as an RS. I could be wrong, though.
