Give me a value on this car

My car, okay?
1992 Firebird, 305 TBI, 700r4 auto, T-Tops, air bag, AC, all options excluding leather. 105,500 miles. Never driven rough or drag raced (well it was stock when I got it and nobody races stock f-bodies right?). Paint is in decent shape- cracked bumper, and rust (not visible) on inside of wheel well, but you can't see it, just feel it and its minor. Interior is in very very good condition. I've never seen a cleaner interior on a 10 year old car. I paid $5000 for this car 3000 miles ago. To me it was a very good deal. But since I got it the crack became more visible (mostly from heat stress though).

I don't want a KBB value, I want a value you'd pay (or want someone to buy) this car for. Give me prices of my car PRESENTLY, and my car with clean bumpers :P

And I know mods return pennies on the dollar, so don't bother adding in my exhaust and air cleaner :P I also sound-deadened the rear, but that wouldnt matter much.

I'd give you $4500 for it because of the miles, the fact that it's TBI, and the rust you mentioned. The rust you can't see can be the worst kind......

Yeah I know what you mean, but I'm gonna spray it with something that will eat away the rust and protect for years to come. Its not that bad, and its not even flaking. It just feels rough like rust. Not hard to fix. The miles, yes its a lot of miles, but TBI can last 200,000 miles easilly.

I was thinking if I ever sold my car it would be for six firm. (That includes my stereo and everything else)

I'd want a TPI and a Manual trans for $6000. I have to be honest with you. I think $4500 is more realistic. Good luck...

Any 91 or 92 camaro rs with the 305 tbi with over 100k miles will get between $3000 and maybe $5000 depending on the options (leather, power accesories, etc). It also depend in what part of the country you are in. Some camaros are higher in demand in the south and other types of camaros/firebirds are in the west or east coast. (Convertibles, vs hardtops vs coupes). It also seems that the 92's get about $500 more just because of the 25th anniversary edition.

When I was looking for my 92 camaro, I almost bought a 92 rs tbi with a 5 speed, t-tops, all power options except leather plus it HAD ONLY 29k miles!!! The guy wanted $7000. It even had the rare polo green with gold stripes and gold accents on the wheels.

There was a 92 rs with auto matic 305 tbi with I beleive 46k miles on ebay in the last week and it went for only $4600.

I eventually bought a 92 z28 with every availiable option (except t-tops) and 44k miles for $8000.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you will be lucky if you get over $5000 especially if
you plan to sell it later. The over 100k miles scares alot of people.

Hope this helps and good luck!!!

No offense, but you've got a list of red flags about a mile long. TBI, Auto, over 100k miles, rust, mods, etc... Unfortunately TBI cars are almost worthless. Around here the Fbody market is usually a bit higher than other places, and I'd say a car similar to yours on a carlot would run less than $4500. From a private seller I'd expect quite a bit less than that.

Well used TBI RS's are going for under $3000 around here lately.

$4500 may be a fair price, but I have to say that at least around here, the prices for nice thirdgens seem to be in the dumps.

I just picked up an '88 IROC for $400, L03, automatic, reasonably well optioned, but it needs some interior work and paint. It wasn't running when I got it, but all it needed was a new fuel pump. No rust at all that we could find when it was on the rack. I figure I'll be in it about $1500 complete.

Since I bought mine last month, I've seen at least 10 decent IROCs and RS' for under $1000, and lots and lots under $2K. I think it is a real good time to buy, but a terrible time to sell. With tons of thirdgens in the wrecking yards and the abundance of cheap parts, it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to fix one up to near show quality. I'm planning on purchasing at least one more IROC and probably a convertible within the next year.

Enjoy this for the short time it'll last, because in a few years it won't be this way. Around 1980, finding 62-65 Nova parts was about like finding thirdgen parts now. I bought a ton of used and NOS stuff which I still have. Just try finding those same parts now, and if by some chance you do, try affording it. Well, off my soapbox...

Those are the best kind Blue! I got my old 84 Z28, L69 5-speed 3.73 rear and all it needed was two pushrods. I went ahead and tore down the engine to check for damage to the valves and pistons (I was assuming the bent pushrods were due to valve float/overreving the engine). Total cost: $250 for the car, $6 for the pushrods, $35 for the gasket set and RTV. And the engine was very low mileage, I even found the recipt for the crate motor under the seat.

Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $4000 for your car (just from the description; an in person "appraisal" might change that for better or for worse), so I think the $4500 figure was fair. I've checked out cars here for $1500 that had immaculate interiors, just the usual crap paint and rough motor.

I have a 1984 Trans Am with 305 H.O. that has NO rust, and a perfect interior. The paint even looks good. I tried to sell it here in Lansing back in 1998 for $3200 and had only two calls in two weeks of advertising. Hell is only 35 miles away from here, so your experience may be similar to mine.

See the pics in the SIG to see the car. It is, of course, a little bit different than 1998, but the interior and paint are still original. I wouldnt dream of trying to sell it nowdays! I've owned it too long. Common law would state that if I sold it, I'd have to pay the new owner child support in order to keep up the car...

Firebirds are sorta RARE in my area. I only know two other people that goto my school with firebirds, out of about 700 cars. at least 25 rustangs there, GAH.

Well there are no engine mods- just air cleaner and exhaust and I have the stock parts. And I'd ask 6k firm for it including my stereo and everything else. My friend said he'd give me $5500 for it NOW, but i dont wanna do that yet :P

Im no expert, but everyone seems to think that you'd be lucky to get $4500 for your car. You have a friend who wants to give you $1000 more than that. See where this is going? Take your friend up on his offer cuz your car's not getting any newer.
