This car appears to be a mystery to almost everyone and i've only seen one other one. I own an 84 camaro zf. what the *$^@ is a ZF??? its about to be junked (beyond repair and i also now have a much nicer 89 rs) and just curious what, if anything, is special about it. it has a v6, wood dash (i know this is not typical), and stripes. heard rumors that it might have z28 suspension, but thats about it. anyone???

Search the board, its come up a couple times... its not factory, either dealer installed or aftermarket.

 

ZF is the manufacturer of the 6 speeds they used in C4 Corvettes and it stands for something in German that I can't pronounce. I don't think they were ever used in Camaros of any year though.

The only thirdgens that used ZF 6 speeds were the Firehawks and a couple GM one offs, like the prototype 92 heritage cars.

 

I have seen a Camaro ZF at some point...there was one running around my town a few years back. It sounded like a 2.8 going by, and was red with some stripes. Definitely not factory, and not exactly a collector piece either
