Just picked up a 85 IROC today. I can tell this is going to be a fun car to drive. The car was just painted inexpensive job, nice 10 footer, interior in nice shape, nice new tires, ttops, and automatic. AC needs a new compressor. Very little rust. I paid $2500 was that to much? I had looked around and had not been able to find one that hadn't been modified, I like to keep cars original. Is there a good manual or book that will help me with this car? I think this is a great site!!

$2500 may have been a bit much- but then again I haven't seen the car. Unfortunately, it is pretty hard to find info on the 85 IROC (I've gone thru and tried to find info on mine-not much luck!)As far as books, manuals, etc-you're pretty much on your own common sense. I haven't found any manuals that are really good, if your good with cars- a Haynes will do (not the best manual, but cheap and has a couple procedures in it that may be helpful. You can never have enough literature, though. I'll pass along info when I learn something new

If its in nice shape and a TPI, $2,500 is fine. $2,500 around here buys a fairly ratty 305 SC...

I'd strongly suggest shelling out the money for the HELM manual. The 85 TPI motor is the bastard motor of the entire TPI line. Most of the equipment is different than on other years, especially the ECM and mass airflow sensor. Don't rely on a generic 82-92 style manual. Get a Helm for the 85 if you ever plan to do any sort of work on it.

Welcome to the Camaro club. You are about to discover what most of already know. I'll give you a few things that NEW F Body owners need to know:

1. The T Tops will probably leak on hard rainy days and at the power car wash unless you change the weather stripping.

2. Modifying you engine can be fun and rewarding. However if you don't you can probably beat most cars from '90 on back that have not been moddied and some that have.

3. Get rid of the rust a soon as possible.

4. The better the paint the better the compliments

5. Most F Bodys are chick magnets unless they look like s#!*.

6. Do the simple mods like exhaust, air filters and headers. Oh and get some sweet looking wheels.

7. Doesn't hurt to have a nice radio system either for those days when the tops are off.

9. Most people that don't have a F Body really want one deep down.

10. Most Mustangs will not mess with you if you look and sound the part and when they do, let them know who's boss. That is your duty!

HAVE FUN AND STAY SAFE! OH YEAH, TAKE SOME PICS AND MAKE A WEB PAGE FOR THE WEB WORLD TO SEE!!!

Welcome to the Club. I just got mine a month ago. I paid 3500 for it, if it makes you feel better. But I got it from a friend who didnt want to let it go but really needed the money and I was glad to help them out. I ve wanted an excuse to get a Camaro for 20 years. It has 122,000 miles on the body and 20K on the motor. It is in pretty nice condition, I ve just been cleaning it up a bit. I put in new Bosch Platinum Spark plugs this weekend. Not easy. I picked up a GM service manual on E-bay for 50.00. The generic manuals help some but contain alot of info on stuff we dont have. keep in touch and E mail me a picture.

Nice car. You gotta get IROC wheels for it tho. Those are the Z28 wheels that you're sporting right now.
