Need help with casting code

Hello...I have a 86 Trans Am that I need help with....The car came with a 305TPI...I do know that the engine has been changed...The heads are off of the 305 and are the type it was equipped...80-86 1.84/1.5 58 c\c chambers...By the way since I am asking, are things heads any good...Sorry for drifting for a sec....The problem is that the block casting code does not match the motor that is supposed to be in there and I can not find a sorce for the code...The car was a salvage car and when it was retitled, the highway patrol told my dad that it was from a 1991 Z-28...The code is V0815CLP...The only CLP I can find is for a 71 400....Thank you for any help...It is greatly appreciated...

For the most part, a 305 block is a 305 block, it doesn't make the slightest difference what piece of sheet metal it was first wrapped in. As long as you have the right combination of 1-piece/2-piece RMS and roller/non-roller, there's not much further difference.

A more important thing to figure out would be whether it's actually a 305 at all.... post the casting number on the block, it's cast in not just stamped with a number stamp, that one actually contains useful information.
