82 Firebird S/E on Ebay
Saw this on Ebay. 1982 Pontiac : Trans Am Knight Rider
It's listed as a Trans Am, but I ran VIN and it says '82 S/E. I emailed the seller and they say the paint is original. I didn't run the VIN at first and asked about the bird decals and why they were not there if the paint is original. Also the grille inserts are solid like the '83-'84 aero package. They insist everything is factory. I told them they were not like this in '82. Either someone put them in or changed the bumper. Either way, they would have to bolt in from behind...not sure if a stock '82 bumper would have the holes for this or not. Or if they got an "aero" bumper they would have had to take the lower GFX off. Probably a PITA either way, but they are on there.
The cowl tag lists the upper and lower paint code as 19...black. This threw me off at first since I never saw a black TA with a lower black color. Didn't all black TA's have a lower color of Gold?? All other colors of TA's had a black lower, with the stripe decals of course. Since I later found out it is an S/E this would make more sense. I don't recall ever seeing any other lower colors on a stock TA other than black or gold...mind you this is for '82. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Not sure if the rims are 14's or 15's. Also I noticed that the gas lid has no lock. Didn't S/E's come with a lock standard? Could you get a delete for credit?
Anyway, I thought this was an interesting find...just wondering if it could be completely stock.
On another note, the inner arm rests look to be the same color as the interior, charcoal. Mine are the same color on my '82 TA. I was always told they should be black. Same with the console lid, looks charcoal as does mine in my TA. And the horn button ring has already been discussed, but some say it was S/E only and my TA has it also. Any thoughts on this?
update: Got another reply from the seller...he figured it was a trans am since the grille inserts said "Trans Am" I don't know why I didn't pick up on that right away
It's missing the "S/E" emblems though
