Car: 1986 IROC-Z
Third Gen Camaro "GTZ"

I had this posted on one of the other boards, but it was recommended that I post this here...

Has anyone ever heard of or seen one of these?

Apparently it was a concept car that was partially developed for the IROC-Z program... does anyone have more info or pictures of the car? Personally, I think it's kinda neat. I really like that hood...

I have that same MT issue. I have found no information on the GTZ, other than that article. Certainly none were ever produced.

This summary is in a book I have on Camaros:
The Camaro GTZ aerodynamic 4.3literV6 concept car illustrated how the Camaro might someday punch a cleaner hole through the atmosphere. The 4.3 liter V6 was never installed in the Camaro, but Chevrolet had reasons to showcase the engine.Besides showing how future Z28s might still be formidable performance cars even if OPEC once again closed the oil spigot,4.3 V6 was also Chevrolet's engine in NASCAR Busch Grand National competition.

I saw the car at the 30th anniversary birthday party at Mid-Ohio race course back in 97. She was sitting with the ZL1 and the actual 1982 pace car and the Brickyard pace car. I have some photo's but my scanner is on the fritz.

I've seen it, just about every year it's at the autorama which is a big custom car show here in detroit.

also, it's known to appear at several of our gm sponsored camaro shows.

If you look at that long enough, I see where the 91-92 gfx came from, and lok at the lights and the curves. I can also see where the idea for the forth gen Camaro got its start.

Yeah the headlights look just like a 93-93 camaro and the scoops are on the side of the front valence.
