Where is a good source for info on these cars. I am looking at one currently that is a 5 speed and think that would be more fun than a 350 car. Prod. figures, problems, etc. anyting like that would be helpful!

They aren't GM approved. They'd be cars that were converted on approval of a customer or a dealership. ASC or whatever company converted the car would be the only one with numbers.

There were only about 50 GTA Convertibles ever made, and were done in 1989 ONLY. These convertibles were done by ASC, authorized my GM. Be sure not to be mistaken... no matter how close it is, if its not an 89, then its not a GTA convertible, and check for the RPO label, and the special label from ASC. Also, most I have seen are 350/autos, but there might be some 305/5spds out there. Theres acually one on e-Bay right now...

If you dont have to have a GTA, you can get one like mine... 92 TA 305tpi/5spd Convertible... its not a GTA but i sure as heck hell love it. They are rare, but not as rare as the GTA Verts. If you need to know anything else, feel free to email me!

Not true. There are 87's (very few), 88's (quite a few, most have the digital dash), the 89's, and even some 90's. IMO not a single one of these was factory authorized, none of them have the proper VIN tag or an RPO for convertible in the list. Check the link you listed, 1G2FW2180KL257156 is not a VIN for a convertible car... no real surprise there, none of them are correct because... none of them were authorized by the factory.
