History / Originality Got a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!

Can you explain these codes, and tell me about my car?

Can you explain these codes, and tell me about my car?

I actually can't find the search, so I apologize. The car is an 82 Z28.. I attached this picture from my center console, which is the RPO code list, right? Anyway, what all kind of things did my car have that is notable? Also, what engine did it orriginally have? I saw the code sticky, but the only engine code I find on the paper is L03, but that doesn't make sense.. Care to clarify for me, please?

Thank you.

Hmm.. The file upload isn't working for me, so I'll use imageshack...

VEry cool but now I'm even more confused..
It does indeed say the engine is an L03, which is TBI and and such..
So. Rememberiong the car is an 82, can you give thoughts??

EDIT: A few f the codes make sense, but I think this list cannot be from my original car.. Perhaps the person just swapped out the center console? Not only is the engine wrong, it lists a 5 spd manual transmission.. I'm rather sure my car does not have a manual transmission..

Dang.

The VIN on that sticker represents a 1990 model year car. Starting in 1980 VINs became 17 characters, and the 10th is a letter denoting the model year. A=1980, B=1981 and so on, a few characters like I and O were skipped to eliminate confusion with similar numbers.

Well, that clears that up then.. I do know my car is an 82 and all, so that's no worry, but not having the codes does make the finer details harder to come by..
