I am thinking about purchasing a 3rd Gen Camaro, but had a few questions. Is it possible to make a car WITHOUT the T-Tops, have them?
What engine sizes were there, and what cars had the 5.7?
Are they any easy conversions for the interior pieces? Its kinda plain I think..
What kind of shape of car would I be looking at getting in the 2000 price range. I have that much for the CAR, then I am going to re-do the entire thing, but getting a loan for it.
What are some of the main differences in body, body kit, and interior through-out the years.

Thanks
Jon

I am thinking about purchasing a 3rd Gen Camaro, but had a few questions. Is it possible to make a car WITHOUT the T-Tops, have them? yes, it requires a roof from a ttop car, a sawzall, and mad skills with a welder. a search in the "fabrication" board will get you details. aslo see http://www.markscustomkits.com/ for some pictures.

What engine sizes were there, and what cars had the 5.7? 2.5(4cyl)2.8 3.1 (6cyl) 5.0 5.7 (8cyl) . more info on each can be found on the "tech data" section of the main site. as for "how to tell" it has been covered. in fact, the sticky at the top of this board titled "were there 350s before 87? did 350s ever come with T5s?" has some info on that. a search would have gotten plenty of results.

Are they any easy conversions for the interior pieces? Its kinda plain I think.. buy a firebird. much better interiors. (my opinion anyway) but if you are wanting a Camaro, some go with 4th gen interior conversions. tons of info on that in one of the stickys in the "body/interior" board. a search would have gotten tons of results

What kind of shape of car would I be looking at getting in the 2000 price range? a nice 2.8 or 3.1. or a 5.0/5.7 in medeocre shape. but if you don't mind waiting you can find deals. i got my 88GTA w/5.7 TPI 75% restored (crappy paint, few odds and ends) for 3K

I have that much for the CAR, then I am going to re-do the entire thing, but getting a loan for it. good luck getting a loan for a "restoration" of a 3rd gen camaro

What are some of the main differences in body, body kit, and interior through-out the years. check the FAQ board, there is a thread called "how to tell 3rd gens by year" covers most.

sarcasm...you probably aren't going to get money from a bank if they know you're intentions are to put it into restoring a turd gen

Blews a kiss at Zee lol

Well it should be easy to get a 2k loan for a 3rd gen. whats even better is saving up the cash &paying for it that way. Unless you are trying to work up credit.

The 5.7 L V8 or better known as the B2L or the L98 to us 3rd genners Came in the Iroc From 87-90 & the Z from 91-92. ( vin should have an 8 In the 8th spot)

No T-5s came from the factory with a 350
