Need info on 92 Camaro History

My boyfriend has a 92 Camaro RS Convertible in the one year only purple haze color. Does anyone know how many were produced in that color? And more specifically, how many convertibles. Any suggestions on where I might find this information? Thanks all!

JOhn,

Is there a reason you didn't churn out a rough number for her?

Is it too risky to run the numbers and say 8500 of 70,000 (total camaros?)
is about 12% of cars are that color. Then say roughly 12% of 2600 RS verts would be about 300 purple verts?

GM usually does not release production numbers when it pertains to groups of options... IE, the number of Purple RS Converts is an unknown just because they do not release information that way. The best we can do at this point in the field is to take the total number of RS converts and the total number of Purple cars and go from there...

Of course you can do some speculation IF you know how to do it. For example in 1987 the Pontiac Formula was the ONLY Firebird model to get painted yellow, so you can speculate that the total number of yellow firebirds were Formulas, likewise ALL RS converts were apparently V8's in 1992 therefore you can group all of the V6's to the coupe. Also if you know that T-tops were NA with the 350 and the G92 cars in 1992 and the G92 cars were usually almost always LB9/M5 or L98/A4 then you can rougly calculate the number of hard top LO3, V6 and LB9 cars... Its not an exact science, but you can get closer if you know how to fiddle with the numbers

The other option she has is to Contact GM and they can sometimes spit out the number of cars like her boyfriends. For example my Blue 87 Formula 350 is one of six hundred something according to one source.

Or go to Camaro.ca and click on Tools -> Check your VIN. It has all the White Book info for your car as soon as you type your VIN in it.
