3.23 Gears in an 86?

I was looking through my RPO codes today and referencing them to the information given in the tech data section. Now my car has the GU5 option, which is rearend ratio of 3.23 and its in an automatic. Now, the tech data only says that auto's came with 2.73, but the 85's had an automatic with 3.23, is there any possibilitythat this rearend is an 85 in my 86? or was there the GU5 option in '86?

I have an 86 iroc and mine has a 3.23 rearend ratio.I think you should be turning around 2700 rpm or so at 65mph.

GU5 was available in 1986 as actual gears in the the performance axle option (I think G92), 2.73 gears are RPO code GU2. GU5 and G92 should both be on your rpo code sheet.

Not sure about this, but G92 may not be on his sheet. G92 was introduced in 1987 as a performance option package for Camaros... Usually G92 included things like oil cooler also IIRC.

I would also imagine that the special axle option would entail posi and my car does not have posi.
