1982 Firebird RPO codes?

Sorry if this isnt the right forum..
Okay Im looking a 1982 Firebird and someone swapped a 350 into the car. I would like to find out what it originaly was and the rear end before I go ahead and buy it.
If it was originally a 4 or 6 cylender would i Have to tell insurance it has a V8 or would the just not give the value if it was wrecked.
Bc if it was a 4 or 6 originally then insurance may be nicer hahaha.

ya so anyways I would like a list of RPO codes I found a whole buch of Camaro ones but are the firebird ones the same?

Jay

The 8th digit of the VIN will tell you what engine the car came with originally(2 or F for the 2.5 4cyl,1 for the 2.8 V6,H for the 305-4bbl and 7 for the 305 CFI - T/A only or could you get it in the S/E).
The block will have the production number of the car stamped on it somewhere(I know on the 305 it will be on a pad in front of the right head under the alternator).
In older cars insurance companies generally group as to vehicle type.Obviously the VIN will tell them what she originally came with.

get the vin code to us, all the digits except the last six

also all the codes off the metal tag on the radiator support,

that will help alot

generally all the RPO codes are the same other than packages like Z28, WS7, etc

but GM liked to re use alot of the codes, so it can get a little wierd
