I have an 89 Iroc that the radio has been changed out with an aftermarket stereo. Even though the RPO code decoder spells out that it should be a UX1"cassette" unit. There are not any pictures of what it should look like? Will someone post a picture of what it should look like and or post a link with a specific description so I can start searching for the correct unit to put my car back to a stock factory configuration. Thanks!

UX1 is "Radio, AM-FM Stereo Cassette Equalizer". That would be this:

 

Hey thanks for the picture and update Oldyellr - I tried searching but no luck - now I can try to locate one now that I have an idea what it looks like. I did buy a GM radio off of this site that is close but it doesn't have the equalizer buttons and it will do for now but the search starts anew!

The Camaro radios have black buttons and Firebird has grey ones, but otherwise they look the same.

 

Look closer.

The Camaro radio has an "AM-Stereo" button where the DNR button is on the Firebird radio.

 

I have my original Camaro radio and the Firebird one I replaced it with. Both have the AM-Stereo button and "Delco Auto DNR" printed on the front. The picture I posted above was just something from Google Images for "GM UX1 Stereo" and doesn't even look like it's an F-Body.

 

 

This is the picture of a UU6 radio from a very low mileage 1984 Trans Am. This radio was used in 83 and 84 only.
The later UX1 radio has more buttons below the cassette deck, the cassette player is built by Blaupunkt, and is completely different inside.
