How To - Installing Universal Power Antenna w/Video
Hey all!
I have been meaning to do this project for years now. I finally decided to just do it. I wish I would have taken more pictures/detailed video, but with two kids, my free time is slim. So I did what I could.
I couldnt find much in the way of write ups or pictures when it came to installing a power antenna. Most guys will find a factory unit and install it. However, they're EXPENSIVE if you get a new one, and sometimes arent very good quality. I had a couple generic antenna laying around and decided to make it work.
There are threads where people have used them, and I think one even mentioned using PVC pipe, but Ive never seen pictures.
Here's a video showing how I did it, and the results. Hopefully it helps someone out!

Quick question, what did you use to cut the housing and how did you cut it? Also what was the total length when done?

The mast housing is just aluminum tube. Very thin wall. I just cut it with a hack saw. I made sure i drew a line all the way around and made the cut straight.
As for the total length, I guessed at it when i was building it. I believe it was around 4.5" extra length. I can try to confirm that for you...let me check and if I can verify I will let ya know.
