Did I screw up my IROC?

When I bought my 87 IROC the first thing I done after getting it home was to take the bra and front licence plate holder off. The grill had holes from the 3 screws that held the holder on and at some point it appeared that someone had just screwed a plate to the grill without the holder thus leaveing 4 additional holes in it. I found a nice bowtie grill at a local yard and put that on the car so I wouldn't have holes. I actually thought this looked good with my cars color. I didn't think a thing of it and I was reading through old posts and saw that my car should have the camaro grill. Do you guys think this is a big deal or not? I have went out of my way to keep it original and don't want it to look out of place to people in the know. Thanks.

It is funny that you post this because I noticed something similar last night when I was searching on 'Heritage Camaros'. I found this site.

The grill on this car should be red instead of black. (Mine is anyway.) So to answer your question, I think 'screwed up' is probably a little harsh. But you might want correct it if possible. Is the piece for your car rare?

If your goal is to make it 100% original, then what you have is wrong. You should have the "CAMARO" one.

But it's not like that piece is permanent. If you like it better, keep it.

The only way u can screw it up is make mods that are exceedingly hard to return to stock.

But wheres the fun at.

Personally I like stock appearance from outside and eng/trans/brakes/susp are anything but.

Have fun, just do everything with a little thought and taste.
