are t-tops strong enough......????

as some of you may no, im trying to get my iroc lifted up so i can put some jack stands under it.. my question is, is the top of the car ( the t-top bar ) strong enough to hold while im lifting the car if the doors are off? or should i leave the doors on until the car is up??? i took the glass tops off just in case... thank again everyone....

Do you have access to an extended lift floor jack(lifts to 21" instead of 17" - and the bigger jacks go higher if you can rent one)?I use mine on my '83 and it helps in setting jacks stands under her.
I don't know if I'd risk lifting her by the roof braces. You could cause unseen flex. And T-top cars have a problem with flex in the "B" pillar area anyhow. And the doors are part of the frame structure. That's why they're braced so heavily.

The Demo derby car builder/driver in me says just lift it because it wouldn't effect most cars, but with a third gen t-top I don't know. Those doors are as heavy as they are for a reason. As previously mentioned, the doors are part of the unibody structure. I would leave them on just to be safe, I have jacked a few cars up without doors, hood, or trunk lid, but never an f-body.
